Wheel bolts & bolt seat type (important)
- Each Bimecc spacer kit is supplied with matching replacement wheel bolts (length depends on spacer thickness).
- Most OEM VW / Audi / SEAT / Skoda wheels use radius / ball seat bolts.
- Many aftermarket alloys use taper / conical seat bolts.
- Using the wrong seat type can cause poor clamping, vibration or unsafe fitment – always check before fitting.
How to tell the difference:
- Radius / ball seat: the contact area under the bolt head is rounded.
- Taper / conical seat: the contact area is straight and angled, forming a cone shape.
If you are unsure, please contact Gwent VW and send us a clear photo of your wheel bolt and wheel seat – we will happily confirm which type you need before you buy.
Bolt Type Visual Guide – Radius vs Taper
Use this simple visual guide to compare your existing wheel bolts with the two common seat types used on VAG vehicles.
This diagram shows the difference between a rounded radius / ball seat and the angled taper / conical seat. Always match the bolt seat to the wheel design – OEM VW/Audi/SEAT/Škoda wheels are usually radius/ball seat, while many aftermarket wheels use taper/conical seat bolts.
⚠ Wheel spacer fitment disclaimer
Wheel fitment can vary between models, brake setups and aftermarket wheels. Always confirm hub size, PCD, bolt seat type, centre-bore, brake clearance and spacer thickness before installation.
Gwent VW cannot be held responsible for incorrect fitment where specifications have not been confirmed prior to purchase. If you are unsure, please contact us and we will verify compatibility for your VW, Audi, SEAT or Škoda.
