This includes experimenting with different fin densities, fin heights and internal structures to carefully control airflow and pressure drop through the intercooler.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA certain amount of pressure drop can actually contribute to improved cooling efficiency by slowing the velocity of pressurised air through the core, allowing more time for heat to transfer away from the charge air.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, excessive pressure drop can become detrimental on higher-powered applications because the turbocharger has to work harder to push air through the intercooler.
